Pediatric Cancers
Cancer happens when the body’s cells start dividing uncontrollably and begin to invade
the surrounding cells. Sometimes these cells create a tumor or mass, other times
they start in the in the blood or lymph system.

- Lymphomas are cancers that begin in the cells of the lymph nodes - the glands of the immune
system.

tissues, or any organ in the body.

cells that delivers oxygen throughout the body. People with these disorders have atypical
hemoglobin molecules that can distort red blood cells into a sickle or crescent shape.
